Abstract Description

Institution: Queensland University of Technology - Queensland, Australia

Background: The Paediatric Palliative Care Outreach Collaborative (E-PPCS) is a project funded under the Care in the Right Setting program, part of the rapid results program. It aims to improve access to paediatric palliative care in regional, remote and very remote Queensland. The Paediatric Palliative Care Outreach Collaborative is led by the Children’s Health Queensland Paediatric Palliative Care Service and the evaluation is led by Queensland University of Technology.

Aim: To evaluate the Paediatric Palliative Care Outreach Collaborative project. This includes an evaluation of the telehealth outreach provided by Children’s Health Queensland and an evaluation of social mapping and community development activities conducted by Hummingbird House Children’s Hospice.

Methods: The RE-AIM Framework is being used to evaluate the Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation, and Maintenance of the Paediatric Palliative Care Outreach Collaborative project. Families living in regional, remote and very remote areas of Queensland and receiving paediatric palliative care telehealth outreach, and health professionals involved in telehealth consultations are eligible to participate in the evaluation. Participation for individuals receiving or participating telehealth outreach involves completion of surveys at various time points and/or a semi structured interview once only.  Participation for individuals who have undertaken social mapping and/or community development activities will be asked to participate in a once only semi-structured interview.

Results: This project is ongoing, results to date will be presented.
